Design Thinking Workshop: The Stanford d.school Approach

Overview

Taught by design thinking experts from the Stanford Design School, participants will get to learn the Stanford d.school and IDEO design thinking methods.

 

At the end of the workshop, participants should be able to

  • Understand the design thinking process
  • Use design thinking tools to develop empathy and discover unarticulated customer needs that can be translated into opportunities to innovate
  • Understand specific ethnographic interviewing and observation techniques that can be used to uncover latent innovation spaces
  • Learn to think creatively and to reframe challenges into opportunities that can generate breakthrough solutions
  • Learn how to test ideas early in the design process, thus reducing risks and accelerating innovation
  • Understand how to see new ways of contributing to the business by identifying opportunities to innovate

 

The ability to innovate faster and in new ways is critical to achieving high performance and surviving in a competitive world. The goal of this workshop is to develop creative, fluid, and responsive design thinkers with the creative confidence to apply the process to solve problems of practice within their organisation and build a company-wide culture that promotes, accelerates, and sustains innovation.

Who Should Attend

All working professionals who are using or wish to use design thinking to optimise business performance at a variety of levels in a wide range of industries.

Assessment

An assessment will be conducted at the end of the course.

Fees and Funding

SkillsFuture Series 

Course fee grant at 70% of course fees (excluding GST) for participants who are successfully enrolled by SMU into approved courses under the Programme. Participants must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents.


SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy ("MCES")
Up to 90% of course fees for Singapore Citizens aged 40 years and above


Enhanced Training Support for SMEs ("ETSS")
Up to 90% of course fees; and 80% of basic hourly salary capped at $7.50/hr for local employees of SMEs


SkillsFuture Credit
Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above, and self-funding may use their SkillsFuture Credit (up to S$500) to defray part of the course fee. Please click User Guideon how to submit your claim. SkillsFuture Credit claims may be submitted by logging in via MySkillsFuture.sg.
