Through participating in this course, you will be able to:


  • Implementing the ‘right’ intra-organisational innovation processes as pillars of robust innovation frameworks
  • Appreciate that making innovation work to enhance organizational competitiveness by creating and capturing value requires a winning innovation strategy aligned with corporate strategy and supportive processes.
  • Setting up/re-optimising operations and co-ordination efforts for innovation outfits, which may include prototyping test-sites
  • Innovation fund management and stewardship
  • Tracking progress, project budget and administration

Who Should Attend

Startup owners, entrepreneurs, business owners, executives and individuals who seeks to enhance innovation in their business or to create innovation centres within their organisations. Individuals who want to understand innovation and develop implementation and actionable plans for their organizations.



An assessment will be conducted at the end of the course.


Upon meeting the minimum attendance requirement and passing the assessment, participants will receive an Electronic Transcript Letter.

Upon completion of the other 7 relevant modules, participants will receive the Graduate Certificate of Applied Innovation.

Full Fee: S$1,712 per pax (including GST)


SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) Funding for Individuals:

  • S$513.60 (including GST) for Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents
  • S$193.60 (including GST) for Singapore Citizens aged 40 years and above


SkillsFuture Series 
Course fee grant at 70% of course fees (excluding GST) for participants who are successfully enrolled by SMU into approved courses under the Programme. Participants must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents.

SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy ("MCES")
Up to 90% of course fees for Singapore Citizens aged 40 years and above

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs ("ETSS")
Up to 90% of course fees; and 80% of basic hourly salary capped at $7.50/hr for local employees of SMEs

Speaker/Trainer Bio

Mr John Hamalian

South East Asia Representative - LEAN Global Network


John S. Hamalian has over 20 years of experience at General Motors and Dell, specialising in Lean Thinking and Agility, Innovation, Digital-Age Management, Strategy, Change Management, Transformation and Sustainable Organisational Development. With assignments based in the USA, China, Germany, Korea, India and Singapore, culminating in 2 Asia-Pacific Regional Director positions, John thrives in global and culturally-diverse environments. He is an adjunct lecturer at various universities; a published writer on Management, Leadership, Strategy and Asian culture; and an active speaker at Business Excellence conferences, global corporations and professional institutions.

John is now the founder of Sustainable Organisational Excellence as well as the Southeast Asia Representative for globally-renowned Lean Enterprise Institute (Lean Global Network), providing consulting, coaching, facilitation and training to help clients across Asia improve their performance and increase value. John’s role also includes building a regionalcommunity of Lean thinking and practice. He holds an MBA from Fordham University in New York and a Bachelor Degree in Engineering from Kettering University in Michigan.

An avid explorer, John has visited over 60 countries, including the entire Far East of Asia, and speaks conversational Mandarin Chinese. He is an active supporter of several NGOs, including serving as Chairman of the Audit Committee as well as Trustee.
