Organizations such as Google and Starbucks have implemented game-changing innovations in strategic ways that add tremendous value to the big picture.  This course aims to equip participants with the skill to evaluate the best approach to implement innovation within an organization.  This will include defining and developing an innovation implementation framework that best fits with the organization's strategy and culture.

An assessment will be conducted at the end of the course.

Certification

Upon meeting the minimum attendance requirement and passing the assessment, participants will receive an Electronic Transcript Letter.

Speaker/Trainer Bio

Dr. Thomas Menkhoff

Professor, Organisation Behaviour and Human Resources (Eductation), Lee Kong Chian School of Business

Dr. Thomas Menkhoff served as Academic Director of SMU’s Master of Science in Innovation Programme. He is an award-winning educator (and frequent contributor of the Business Times) and has published numerous articles in scholarly journals and several books on socio-cultural dimensions of managing knowledge transfer, innovation and change in multi-cultural contexts and Asian entrepreneurship. Two of his recent publications include “2010 Governing and Managing Knowledge in Asia”, “Series on Innovation and Knowledge Management” and “2014 Catalyst for Change – Chinese Business in Asia”.

Dr. Thomas Menkhoff has served, amongst others as consultant to German Agency of Technical Cooperation (GTZ), the Government of Singapore, the Commonwealth Secretariat, Arthur D Little, Asian Productivity Organization (APO), the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Government of Malaysia and various corporation such as SembCorp Marine or Singapore Power.

Mr. Kan Siew Ning

Adjunct Lecturer, Lee Kong Chian School of Business

Mr. Kan Siew Ning worked for the Singapore Government from 1985 to 2011. In 2011, he was a Director of Police Technology Department, managing 250 people and almost 100 IT and engineering projects. He had also ran a government-owned venture capital firm, Cap Vista Pte. Ltd., and was the president of the Information and Management Society.

Mr. Kan has been teaching university courses since 2001, and has taught in SMU, NTU and NUS. The topics include knowledge management, smart cities, drones and robotics, leadership and team building, human capital management, and public sector IT system. He received several teachings award and adjunct teaching in SMU. He has also taught short overseas courses at the University of Mauritius and Hong Kong Civil Service Bureau. One of his recently edited publications is: ”Living in Smart Cities: Innovation and Sustainability” (with Thomas Menkhoff, Hans-Dieter Evers and Chay Yue Wah), World Scientific Publishing 2017 forthcoming.
