Learning how to select and utilize the right trading platform will help provide important market insights, real-time data and analytics, decision making tool-kits and the appropriate electronic facilities to monitor and execute trades within your portfolios.

This course will introduce participants to several trading platforms, in particular, OANDA and Interactive Brokers, which is widely used by online retail foreign exchange traders, and hundreds of brokerage companies and banks around the world. The trainer is a former Chief Operations Officer (COO) of a Tier-1 investment bank.  Participants will learn how to effectively utilize the basic tools of a trading platform, using Meta Trader 5, such as order execution tools, real-time market price and order queue data, historical tick-by-tick data and charts, portfolio trade ledgers, margin utilization analytics, mark-to-market PnL and cash management analytics reports, to operate a profitable and prudent proprietary trading / investment business.

Learning Objectives

•   Understand and identify the basic platform features required by any professional proprietary trader/investor
•   Understand how to utilize these features to effectively operate a proprietary trading or investment business
•   Understand the concept, advantages and disadvantages of leverage;
•   Understand how leverage is offered through the products and services of financial intermediaries
•   Understand the concept of mark-to-market accounting, the importance of monitoring PnL and its interaction with margin requirements
•   Monitor risk and risk manage margin calls effectively using simple risk policies
•   Manage cash flows prudently to ensure the operations are optimally capitalized whilst benefiting from leverage

M. Frederic Delaroche

M. Frederic Delaroche has more than 12 years’ experience in Finance, of which more than 3 years serving as the Chief Operations Officer of the treasury in the Tier 1 investment bank, Societe Generale, and 5 years offering independent financial and risk management consultancy services in South East Asia. Skilled in Management, Structured Finance, Project Finance, Risk Management, Business Development, and Business Process Improvement, Fred possesses vast knowledge of banking standards and regulations, deep understanding of Equity and Fixed Income, Commodities and Currency (FICC) market activities and high-level management skills in relation to sales, operations and risk management. Fred holds a Masters in Finance and Investment from the London Metropolitan University, an MSc in Civil Engineering from Ecole Centrale Paris and a BSc in Theoretical Physics.
