Who Should Attend

CFOs, finance leaders and senior finance executives with some years of financial management experience and who are grappling with dilemmas of organisational transformation - from any size company and any industry.

PREREQUISITES

Participants should have minimally 5 years of financial management experience.

Overview

As technology, globalisation and demographic trends continue to disrupt organisations, finance functions are increasingly challenged to provide their organisations with a strategic edge. None of us knows for certain what the future will hold, but we all have a responsibility to be thinking about what’s likely to happen, and to prepare for it.

In the finance function, that means working now to get the right skillsets and technology in place to take advantage of the inevitable disruption ahead. This online certificate programme is designed specifically to guide the corporate finance community through this change in a practical, objective manner.

Comprising 7 modules, this self-directed online learning series is nothing like a typical sit-back-and-listen lesson. Participants will engage in a new activity every three to five minutes. Each element is designed to keep them engaged, involved, and on their toes.  Engaging with peers is a big part of what sets SMU Academy’s online courses apart. Participants will exchange ideas, offer input, and seek out viewpoints from a community of working professionals and leading-edge practitioners gathered from across industries. In the process, participants will learn from each other’s experiences and perspectives.

Midway through the programme, each cohort will be invited to join a live webinar which offers participants an opportunity to interact and have a dialogue with the trainers and invited guest speakers from the industry. The webinar will typically take the format of a live teaching session offering a broad range of various topics covered in the programme followed by a question-and-answer session with the trainers and guest speakers. Another webinar will be held towards the end of the programme for each cohort.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn about the relevant key drivers of digitalisation and the role they play in creating transformation pressure on the finance function

  • Know the digital tools available to drive automation of financial processes
  • Understand the digital transformation in the money and funding domain and its ramification on the finance function
  • Gain an overview of the emerging analytics landscape and the importance of demystifying big data
  • Understand the need for deeper and broader analytics capabilities in the finance function
  • Understand the increasingly important role that finance plays in anticipating and managing these risks that have been heightened by digital disruption
  • Understand the new talent considerations and configurations needed for the finance function to adapt to the coming digital disruptions
