Kindly read through this content prior to the start of any course at SMU Academy.
Mode of Learning
For courses conducted on Campus at SMU, the venue details will be disseminated via an email which will be sent 7 working days prior to the start of the course. All participants are required to complete an online visitor registration form for each day of a class before entering the campus.

- You will receive a proof of registration.
- Show the proof of registration and photo ID (for example, NRIC, passport, driver's license, etc.) to the security personnel at the campus for verification.
For courses conducted over Zoom, the Zoom link can be found in your registered course page on the Academy’s Learning Management System (LMS). Kindly note that the sessions will only be opened 30 minutes before the scheduled class timing and participants will only be admitted nearing the course commencement time.

Zoom Session Requirements:
- All Zoom sessions will be recorded for SSG funding auditing purposes. There will be no re-distribution of any video recordings.
- As part of SSG funding requirements for online classes, the participant’s device camera must be turned on during the entire duration of the course.
- Participants’ entire face must be visible during the entire duration of the course (i.e. not just the forehead/eyebrows).
- Please ensure that your name as per NRIC is indicated correctly when logging into the Zoom session.
- Kindly take note that non-compliance with the above points would render the participant not qualified for the relevant SSG subsidy and funding. You will be billed the full course fees subsequently.
Device Requirements:
For a more effective learning experience, please ensure that you have access to a reliable internet connection (broadband wired or wireless (3G or 4G/ LTE), a laptop/ desktop/ tablet with either built-in or USB plug-in speaker, microphone and webcam. If you are using your company laptop, please ensure that your security settings allow access to smualms.edutechonline.com and zoom.us.

Learning Management System (LMS)
All participants will be given access to their course at least 7 calendar days before the course commences. Please log into the LMS through the eLearning tab on your Student Portal. The eLearning tab can be found on the left sidebar of your Student Portal dashboard.

Payment Matters
Participants are able to view billing details and any outstanding payment in their Student Portal to make payment upon receipt of our invoice email. Payment methods and amount will be detailed accordingly.
- Self-Sponsored Participants: Participants are able to view billing details and any outstanding payment in their Student Portal.
- Company-Sponsored Participants: The payment notification will be sent to the company contact person, and detailed invoice can be found in the Client Portal on the day of course commencement. Payment will be due within 30 days from invoice date.
Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.
This is only applicable to self-sponsored participants. Application to utilise SkillsFuture Credits can be submitted when making payment for the course via the SMU Academy TMS Portal, and can only be made within 60 days of course start date.

To be eligible for course fee funding from SSG, participants must meet the following criteria:
- Attain a minimum of 75% attendance
- Pass the associated assessment
- Be taking the course for the first time
Failure to meet the above criteria will deem you ineligible for course fee fundings, and may result in full course fees (without funding), including GST being payable.
Withdrawal/ Transfer Policy
An administrative fee of S$109.00 (inclusive of GST) will be charged for each request to withdraw from or transfer to a course. This administrative fee cannot be paid using SkillsFuture credits.
Upon payment of this fee, SMU Academy will process the withdrawal or transfer, and refund the nett course fee received.
Participants may submit their withdrawal and transfer requests using this form here. All requests must be submitted by the course end date, otherwise nett course fee will be charged and non-refundable.
Waivers of administrative charges are subjected to approval under the following conditions:
- Medical grounds
- Compassionate grounds
- NS Reservist
Relevant documents (e.g. medical certificate, SAF100) must be submitted via email to support any waiver request.

Assessment Retake Policy
To safeguard the integrity of the assessments and ensure that the assessment or re-assessment process is fair for all participants, the following policies will be enforced:
- SMU Academy reserves the right to schedule the assessment for each module/ programme. Classes that meet at the same time during a particular period will have a common assessment time. Requests for changes to the assessment date or time will not be entertained, except on compelling or medical grounds. Relevant proof or documents will need to be submitted to substantiate these grounds.
- Some assessments are graded by the respective instructors and may be reviewed by a programme committee before the results are released to the participants on a personal basis. The decision made by the programme committee is final and no request for re-marking or re-grading will be entertained.
- Class exercises, assignments, summative and final assessment scripts will not be shared and returned to participants.
- Participants who missed or failed the assessment will not be eligible for SSG’s course fee funding, and will not receive the verified and full certificate issued for the course. Additionally, if the failed course serves as a prerequisite for subsequent modules, they will not be able to proceed with those modules.
- All participants are eligible for one retake which is chargeable at S$109.00 (inclusive of GST), and needs to be completed within 7 calendar days from the end of the course date. This administrative fee cannot be paid using SkillsFuture credits.

Certificates
Participants will need to meet the following requirements to receive their digital certificate:
- Attain a minimum of 75% attendance*
- Pass all associated course assessments
- Fulfil the payment of the course in full**
Participants will be notified via email on the issuance of their digital certificate, accessible via the Student Portal/ Skills Passport. The digital certificates are powered by blockchain technology and can be verified using OpenCerts.
- Self-sponsored: Certificates will be issued starting from the 14th working day after course completion.
- Company-sponsored: Certificates will be issued within 14 working days upon receipt of payment.
*Please be informed that participants who are not able to meet the minimum attendance requirement of 75% will not be eligible for assessments.
**In the case of partial or full payment using SkillsFuture credits (SFC) or PSEA, payment in full is fulfilled upon the successful receipt of the disbursement. SFC disbursement may take up to a month while PSEA disbursement may take up to 6 weeks from the application submission date, provided the application is approved.
