PREREQUISITES
This programme is structured to provide a comprehensive learning experience. Participants are required to sign-up for all five (5) modules and complete the modules in the designated sequence to ensure a solid understanding of each topic before moving on to the next.
Overview
The Advanced Certificate in Applied Data Science and Analytics (I) is a practical, five-module programme designed to develop essential data analytics skills for today’s workplace.
Participants start by building a strong foundation in statistics and data processing with Excel, then advance to creating compelling visualisations using Tableau. The course continues with data transformation and feature engineering techniques for handling both structured and unstructured data. Next, learners dive into core machine learning methods using Python, and conclude with a capstone practicum that integrates Tableau and Python to solve real-world data challenges.
This programme prepares professionals to confidently analyze data and deliver actionable insights that enhance business decision-making.
Topic/Structure
To achieve the Advanced Certificate in Applied Data Science and Analytics (I), participants will need to complete the following modules offered by SMU Academy:
Module 1: Introduction to Statistics and Data Processing Using Excel
Module 2: Visual Analytics - Data Analysis Using Tableau
Module 3: Data Transformation and Feature Engineering with Structured and Unstructured Data
Module 4: Machine Learning Using Python
Module 5: Practicum using Tableau and Python
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of every module. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment for each of the 5 modules within 3 years in order to be awarded the digital Advanced Certificate in Applied Data Science and Analytics (I) issued by Singapore Management University.
