Overview
The module provides participants with the competencies required for Singapore's PDPA compliance within the organisation.
Participants will be able to create Data Protection Policy, manage compliance using the online Data Protection Management System via a hands-on and practical based approach where the focus on their organisation's compliance with the PDPA. The course has a heavy focus on hands-on activities and assignments that are given to the participants. It not only trains participants but shows them how to be compliant, with a strong emphasis on information security, complete with their own Compliance Manual, Audit & bundles all the Tools needed.

- Conduct a Risk Assessment Audit at your own Organisation to determine gaps and risks
- Learn to use basic controls, tools to address information security gaps in your own organisation
- Understand roles & responsibilities of the Data Protection Officer & Conducting a Personal Data Inventory Audit
- Understand how to implement Personal Data Protection Policies & Initiatives
- Sustaining the compliance efforts
- Responding to a data breach
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.
MODULE EXEMPTION
Participants may be exempted from this module if they have any of the following qualifications:
- DPO Hands-on Course awarded by SMU/Straits Interactive
- PDPA – An Operational Perspective + PDPC Practitioner Certificate in Personal Data Protection*
- WSQ Fundamentals of the PDPA + PDPC Practitioner Certificate in Personal Data Protection*
* Participant must have passed the PDPC-administered examination

SkillsFuture Credit
Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.
This is only applicable to self-sponsored participants. Application to utilise SkillsFuture Credits can be submitted when making payment for the course via the SMU Academy TMS Portal, and can only be made within 60 days of course start date.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
