Overview
This course is designed to equip participants with specific intervention strategies to enhance the academic performance of students with special needs. Participants will explore targeted approaches in reading, writing, mathematics, and study skills, tailored to diverse learning profiles. The course emphasises evidence-based practices, differentiation techniques, and the integration of assistive technologies to promote engagement and achievement.
Additionally, learners will acquire the skills to develop individualised intervention plans that address specific strengths and challenges. By the end of the course, participants will possess practical strategies to foster academic success and empower students in their learning journeys.
Note: This module is part of a sequential programme and is not available on a standalone basis.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the 2-day module, participants will be able to:
- Identify and apply targeted intervention strategies in reading, writing, math, and study skills specifically designed for students with special needs
- Utilise evidence-based practices and differentiation techniques to tailor instruction to meet the diverse learning profiles of students
- Explore the effective integration of assistive technologies that enhance student engagement and support academic achievement across various subjects
- Develop personalised intervention plans that align with individual student strengths and challenges, fostering an environment for academic success
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion.

SkillsFuture Credit
Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.
This is only applicable to self-sponsored participants. Application to utilise SkillsFuture Credits can be submitted when making payment for the course via the SMU Academy TMS Portal, and can only be made within 60 days of course start date.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
