Overview

The Advanced Certificate in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for Sustainability equips professionals with the full spectrum of knowledge and practical competencies required to analyse, interpret, and apply LCA in real‑world sustainability contexts.

Through six progressively structured modules, participants gain a comprehensive understanding of LCA principles, data collection, impact assessment, interpretation, regulatory contexts, and the integration of LCA with carbon management.

The programme provides a methodical, industry‑aligned learning pathway that builds from foundational concepts to advanced applications, preparing learners to support sustainable product design, corporate environmental strategies, regulatory compliance, and green innovation.

Sustainability at the heart Global Green Connect (GGC), founded in 2013, is an integrated sustainability network that combines consulting, academy, and social enterprise. Global Green Connect aims to make a positive impact on business for long-term success by focusing on authentic and practical sustainability solutions. Global Green Connect's sustainability training courses aims to equip professionals, managers, executives, and technicians (PMETs) with future-ready skills for emerging green jobs, or existing jobs that are going to be green in the future economy. Global Green Connect is also a Certified B Corporation.

Topic/Structure

To achieve the Advanced Certificate in Life Cycle Assessment for Sustainability, participants will need to complete the following modules offered by SMU Academy:

  • Module 1: Introduction to Lifecycle Assessment
  • Module 2: Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) Analysis
  • Module 3: Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA)
  • Module 4: Interpretation and Application of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
  • Module 5: Regulation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Sustainability
  • Module 6: Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) & Carbon Management

Assessment

As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of every module. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.

Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment for each of the 6 modules within 2 years in order to be awarded the digital Advanced Certificate in Life Cycle Assessment for Sustainability issued by Singapore Management University.

SkillsFuture Credit

Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.

This is only applicable to self-sponsored participants. Application to utilise SkillsFuture Credits can be submitted when making payment for the course via the SMU Academy TMS Portal, and can only be made within 60 days of course start date.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)

  • Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
  • Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
  • Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
  • Trainees are eligible for ETSS funding only if their company's SME status is approved prior to the course commencement date. To verify your SME's status, please click here.
