Overview
Learners will gain insights into various carbon market structures, different carbon pricing approaches, and the role of carbon offsetting and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). We will also explore the voluntary carbon market and critical integrity considerations.
This course directly addresses the growing need for professionals skilled in navigating and leveraging carbon markets to achieve sustainability goals. It equips learners with competencies relevant for roles in carbon trading, sustainability analysis, and corporate strategy, enhancing their employability and potential for job upgrades in a rapidly evolving industry.
Sustainability at the heart Global Green Connect (GGC), founded in 2013, is an integrated sustainability network that combines consulting, academy, and social enterprise. Global Green Connect aims to make a positive impact on business for long-term success by focusing on authentic and practical sustainability solutions. Global Green Connect's sustainability training courses aims to equip professionals, managers, executives, and technicians (PMETs) with future-ready skills for emerging green jobs, or existing jobs that are going to be green in the future economy. Global Green Connect is also a Certified B Corporation.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the 2-day module, participants will be able to:
- Know the fundamental principles and operation of various carbon markets
- Analyse different carbon pricing mechanisms and evaluate their effectiveness in driving emissions reductions
- Differentiate between carbon offsetting and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and assess their role in climate action
- Describe the structure and key considerations within voluntary carbon markets, including integrity challenges
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion.

SkillsFuture Credit
Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.
This is only applicable to self-sponsored participants. Application to utilise SkillsFuture Credits can be submitted when making payment for the course via the SMU Academy TMS Portal, and can only be made within 60 days of course start date.

Employer Sponsored
Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
