Overview
The ability to efficiently manage and analyse data is a crucial skill in today’s digital world. This course introduces participants to foundational database concepts, tools, and practices.
Designed for beginners, it emphasises practical skills such as working with relational databases, spreadsheets, SQL, and NoSQL databases. Participants will learn how to structure, query, and visualise data effectively for analytics and business insights.
This course also integrates modern techniques, for example, the use of large language models (LLMs) for natural language querying and AI-driven data exploration, making it highly relevant in the modern age. By the end of the course, participants will have the confidence to manage traditional and NoSQL databases and leverage data for decision-making and reporting.
Learning Objectives
- Understand and apply foundational concepts of relational and non-relational databases
- Perform data analysis using SQL for querying, manipulation, and summarisation, and utilise spreadsheets for data entry, analysis and visualisation
- Create data visualisations and dashboard for storytelling and generation of business insights

- Learn to make basic SQL queries to extract and summarise data
- Learn to load data into visualisation tools like Tableau
- Create interactive dashboards to visualise and analyse data
- Learn how to handle big data in the cloud

Upon meeting the attendance and assessment criteria, participants will be awarded a digital certificate for participating in each module. Please refer to our course policies to view the attendance and assessment criteria.
Upon completion of all modules required for this programme within a maximum duration of 3 years, participants will be awarded a digital certificate.
