Overview

Collecting data through technology has changed the game of analysis in businesses today. With accessible tools, companies are able to churn and gain reliable insights from Big Data efficiently. In this course, participants will learn to create reports with analytic and data visualisation tools. This enables participants to build their own interactive data dashboard for storytelling. Participants will also be exposed to the challenges and handling large Big Data in practice.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain exposure to systems and tools to handle tabular data (Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, SQL DBMS)
  • Obtain a basic understanding of Relational Database Theory
  • Learn the fundamentals, properties and challenges of handling Big Data
  • Learn how data can be represented in tabular form

Topic/Structure

  • Learn to make basic SQL queries to extract and summarise data
  • Learn to load data into visualisation tools like Tableau
  • Create interactive dashboards to visualise and analyse data
  • Learn how to handle big data in the cloud

CERTIFICATION

Upon meeting the attendance and assessment criteria, participants will be awarded a digital certificate for participating in each module. Please refer to our course policies to view the attendance and assessment criteria. 

Upon completion of all modules required for this programme within a maximum duration of 3 years, participants will be awarded a digital certificate.

  • Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
  • Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
  • Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman

As a quant risk manager at Barclays Investment Bank, he refined his skills in data analysis, risk engine programming, and financial modeling in Python, R, VB.NET, and FORTRAN. Founding SG Code Campus, Ian designs and teaches curricula in Web & Mobile Programming, Cloud Computing, Data Science, and Machine Learning for diverse audiences, including kids, youths, Polytechnic and University students, and professionals. He continuously enhances teaching methods to engage learners effectively across different age groups and backgrounds.

Natasha is a certified Apple Professional Learning Provider at SG Code Campus, an official Apple Consultants Network Partner organisation. She graduated with a Master of Science (Distinction) in Computer Science from the University of Hong Kong with a 4.0 GPA, and a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics and Science (Great Distinction) from McGill university. Her experience as a software engineer ranges from working with startups and multinationals in Singapore and USA including IBM where she worked on data quality management solutions that helped deliver quality data for big data, business intelligence, data warehousing, application migration and master data management projects. She has experience leading software teams at ST Electronics’ i-Learning division and founded 2 startups including an iPhone app development company, where she developed the MakanSutra iOS app.

Sun Chang holds a PhD in Computational Engineering from Singapore-MIT Alliance at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics, where he was awarded First Class Honours by the NUS Faculty of Science. A full-time Senior Data Scientist in Grab, Sun Chang deals extensively in the areas of Database management, Data Analytics, Data Visualisation, Model Training, Big Data and Cloud Computing. He has also previously worked as a technical consultant providing AI solutions to hospitals and manufacturing industries. Sun Chang believes that the rare combination of his scholastic background, paired with a wealth of practical experience across a spectrum of diverse industries empowers him to provide his students with the ideal balance of theory and practicum in the classroom.
