Who Should Attend
- Young graduates or early-career professionals who are exploring a new career in Fintech and would like to undergo a structured and rigorous industry-relevant programme
- Professionals who are already working at the intersection of finance and technology and who wish to keep abreast with latest fintech knowledge, applications, and trends
- Finance or Tech professionals who are currently leading teams in related industries and would like to plug their knowledge gaps in finance and/ or technology
- Industry regulators from central monetary authorities, law enforcers of financial crime etc., who are seeking a systemic perspective on the disruptions to financial services and monetary system
PREREQUISITES
- No prerequisites, but participants are strongly encouraged to go through the assigned pre-reading materials and videos, especially if one does not have any prior learning or working knowledge in the subject matter of this Module
- If the participant intends to register for the Chartered Fintech Professional examination following the completion of this training course, do note that an undergraduate degree from a recognised university or equivalent professional qualification is a compulsory enrolment requirement
Overview
Module 3 comprises three sections: Cloud computing, cybersecurity, and quantum computing. In the first section, the module provides a comprehensive overview of cloud computing by introducing the essential characteristics of cloud computing, the technology components in a cloud architecture, and different cloud computing models and service models. It will also introduce how cloud computing can be used in Fintech, the risks and challenges, as well as the cloud computing strategies in China and the US. The second section covers essential concepts in cybersecurity. Topics include introduction to security objectives, modern cryptography, security of cryptocurrency wallets and exchanges, how blockchain can be used to enable cybersecurity and vice versa, and an introduction to the concepts of “trust”. The third section covers fundamental physics of quantum computing, the applications of quantum computing and its impact on blockchain security. It also examines the current development and the essential traits for quantum computers.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the 2-day module, participants will be able to:
- Distinguish essential characteristics of cloud computing and differentiate the four main cloud computing models
- Examine different service models in cloud computing
- Recognise the technology components that are essential in a cloud architecture
- Evaluate the impact of cloud computing in Fintech and appraise the risks and challenges in cloud computing
- Compare the developments of the cloud market in China and the US
- Appraise different security objectives, describe modern cryptography and distinguish types of data that should be protected
- Appraise the security of cryptocurrency wallet and exchanges and examine the usage of blockchain to boost cybersecurity
- Differentiate the concepts of “zero-trust” and “trustless”
- Illustrate the fundamental physics of quantum computing and how it works and describe the applications of quantum computing in various industries
- Appraise the impact of quantum computing on blockchain security
- Examine the current development of quantum computing and identify essential traits for quantum computers
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.
