  • Corporate executives, manager, human resource and corporate responsibility officers responsible for implementing sustainable practices and policies within organisations.

PREREQUISITES

There are no prerequisites for this programme. Prior knowledge on any of the topics is not required.

Overview

In an era where climate change poses significant challenges, sustainability is no longer just a buzzword, but a strategic imperative. One that compels professionals to recognise the significance of climate change mitigation and the need to take action in order to thrive in a competitive and green business landscape. Through this course, professionals will be able to gain actionable insights into how individuals and organisations can contribute to climate change mitigation by reducing their carbon footprint. The objective of the course is to cover the basics of climate science, the importance of sustainability in the corporate sector, and practical steps that can be integrated into daily professional routines.

Participants will learn about eco-friendly business strategies, green technologies, and how to promote a culture of sustainability within their organisations. The goal of the session is to empower more in becoming agents of change in the workplace, to steer more business towards a more sustainable future amidst the world’s transformation into a greener landscape.  


 

Learning Objectives

At the end of the 1-day course, participants will be able to:

• Understand global climate issues, key terminologies, and the role of carbon emissions in the climate emergency

• Learn to accurately estimate and actively reduce your carbon footprint

• Identify effective and sustainable lifestyle changes without compromising personal needs

• Develop an actionable plan for immediate emission reduction

• Create a personal vision for a sustainable future and understand motivational and deterrent factors in climate action

• Acquire skills to discern and navigate greenwashing

• Gain insights into best practices for sustainable choices in food, transportation, consumption, and home management

• Apply learned strategies in the workplace and social settings for broader impact
 

Assessment

As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.

Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

SkillsFuture Credit

Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)

  • Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
  • Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
  • Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
  • Trainees are eligible for ETSS funding only if their company's SME status is approved prior to the course commencement date. To verify your SME's status, please click here.
