Overview

Embrace errors, unlock potential. This course introduces participants to error-based learning, an innovative teaching approach that transforms mistakes into valuable learning opportunities.

Participants will explore how this method can be used to identify essential skills and cultivates deep expertise across various domains. Through an in-depth review of error-based learning strategies, the course demonstrates how intentionally incorporation of errors into the learning process can enhance skill acquisition and critical thinking. Participants will learn how to design learning experiences that encourage them to embrace and learn from mistakes while promoting reflective practice to support growth and insight.

By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the necessary skills to create dynamic learning environments where errors are design tools to drive meaningful learning outcomes.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the 2-day course, participants will be able to:

  • Review error-based learning as a pedagogical approach to identifying critical skills and developing deep skills
  • Design learning experiences to facilitate expertise development
  • Refine error-based learning strategies to maximise impact on outcomes

Assessment

As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of every module. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.

Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by SMU Academy.
