Who Should Attend

Project managers, executives, project teams, consultants leading and overseeing IT or enterprise wide related projects

Overview

In this 3-day workshop, participants will learn the various financial and accounting concepts and terminologies used in the financial performance measurement of technology functions. Be familiar with how to manage, analyse and account for variance in financial performance with reference to financial information or reports on budget, accrual and expenses.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn accounting frameworks, concepts and assumptions
  • Differentiate between operating and capital expenditures, cash and accrual accounting for FIs
  • Accounting for IT Projects – budget and financial planning
  • Case exercises – tracking financial performance of an IT project

Topic/Structure

  • The concept of financial and accounting used in the Financial Sector
  • Budget and financial planning
  • Factors for consideration and impact of  capital vs operating expenses
  • Use cases – accounting for actuals vs accruals
  • Group exercise – preparing the budget and tracking the financial performance of a project

Assessment

As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course in the form of written tests, assignments and presentations. 

Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)

  • Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
  • Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
  • Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
  • Trainees are eligible for ETSS funding only if their company's SME status is approved prior to the course commencement date. To verify your SME's status, please click here.

Previously the Head of Risk and Control for Citibank€™s Treasury and Trade Solutions Group, her role included IT service management, application production, IT outsourcing management, global internet application, and the setup of the Global and Regional Application command centre. Amelia now engages in the design, facilitation and delivery of training programs for IT and financial professionals.
