- A Diploma with at least 3 years of working experience
Overview
This module introduces the fundamentals of blockchain, cryptocurrencies and smart contracts. Participants will also learn to combine both legal and smart agreements in one cohesive process using techniques applied in the field, in aim to offer their clients the best of both worlds.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the 2-day module, participants will be able to:
- Understand how blockchain works in the context of smart contracts
- Manage the key stakeholders involved in the smart contracting process
- Understand the advantages of smart contracts in the reduction of the need for legal instructions and human intervention
- Formulate strategies allowing for the co-existence of legal and smart contracts in a single transaction
- Learn about the advantages and limitations of blockchain technology and appropriate use cases
- Understand the legal and regulatory environments that are in scope for smart contracts
- Understand the inherent legal risks of automated contracts and how the risk is managed
- Understand what Cryptocurrencies are and how they work
- Understand what ICOs are and how they work
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.
CPD POINTS
Participants will be able to earn 12 CPD Points awarded by Singapore Institute of Legal Education when they attend this course.
Participants who wish to obtain CPD Points are reminded that they must comply strictly with the Attendance Policy set out in the CPD Guidelines. For this activity, this includes signing in on arrival and signing out at the conclusion of the activity in the manner required by the organiser, and not being absent from the entire activity for more than 15 minutes. SkillsFuture Credit
Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
