Overview

Explore customer-centric innovative techniques to drive service excellence and productivity at the workplace. “Information is the oil of the 21st century, and analytics is the combustion engine.” Peter Sondergaard, Gartner The course, through a mixture of learning, analysing and applying, aims to enhance participants’ understanding of the basic yet powerful design thinking techniques (in rethinking how daily work and stakeholder interactions get done) whilst incorporating data analysis and visualisation methods.

Instructional delivery methods include a combination of process simulation, lectures, discussions, interactive exercises, and videos. Participants will return to their respective organisations with an in-depth perspective in handling service design-related initiatives equipped with design thinking tools as well as data analytics techniques.

Learning Objectives

  • Apply basic Design Thinking techniques on service processes to reduce non-value-added steps and turn-around-time to the benefit of customers and employees
  • Formulate business questions as Data Analytics tasks
  • Select the right tools for data acquisition, data cleaning, data transformation and data analysis
  • Visualise data and analytics results for decision making to answer business questions

  • Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
  • Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
  • Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman

Dr. Kaufmann, a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, brings over 20 years of experience in organizational improvements across diverse industries. This includes organisations such as Alstom, Aon, Armstrong, Bao Steel, Bosch, Bosch Siemens Home Appliances, Flextronics, Johnson & Johnson, JP Morgan, Schneider Electric, DB Schenker, Siemens, TCL, TRW, Wilmax Systems; as well as Public Service agencies such as ISCA, MSF, MFA, MinDef, MOF, MOH, MOM, MTI, IE Singapore, Muis and the Kingdom of Tonga. Dr Kaufmann is also a Six Sigma Master Black Belt. He has led a multitude of organisational development and business process improvement projects in several Government Agencies as well as MNCs. He coached teams on a wide range of projects including process design (Business Process Re-engineering, Design For Six Sigma), process improvement (Lean and Six Sigma), process management (Line of Sight).
