Cyber Security Risk Management for Finance Professionals

Programme Code: CRS-N-0045255

Overview

The Digital Economy is fast overtaking the Traditional Economy giving rise to an ever exigent rush to transform business firms into digital firms for competitive advantage.

This fast and furious digital transformation has open up digital connectivity outside the firm and into the global world thus exposing the security of the firm’s assets to potential risks of cyber-attacks and cyber-terrorism.

What are these cyber-attacks and cyber-terrorism, where do they come from, what company assets are exposed and how can firms address these real threats and challenges effectively? Such cyber-attacks and cyber-terrorism could potentially cripple the business operations resulting in financial losses, rob the trust of customers and destroy the reputation of the firm. It is thus critical that accountants and finance leaders support business leaders and users to quickly understand and assess their digital systems and connectivity and identify the vulnerabilities and high risks aspects of cyber security, develop policies, procedures and set up relevant cyber security controls as well as explore cyber security analytics to effectively tackle the real and present threats of cyber-attacks and cyber-terrorism.

This two-day programme aims to define cyber security, explain its risks and challenges in relation to the digital economy and its global connectivity and discuss how the risks could be managed effectively.  Examples and case studies of past cyber-attacks will be used to expound on the risks and challenges of cyber security.  Ideas and suggestions on appropriate cyber security policies, procedures and controls as well as cyber security analytics for predicting probability of cyber-attacks will be deliberated.  Laws concerning cyber security and legal protection against cybercrime will also be highlighted.
