The module focuses on practical examples of IOT in various industries including accounting environments and practice. At the end of the course, participants will learn:

  • the benefits and value of IOT for Accounting practice, as well as the application of cloud services
  • understand the characteristics of different cloud deployment models and applicability of each type
  • be able to describe the relevant data governance for cloud-based service models
  • explain the various accounting treatment of cloud-based services and assets

SkillsFuture Series 

Course fee grant at 70% of course fees (excluding GST) for participants who are successfully enrolled by SMU into approved courses under the Programme. Participants must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents.

SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy ("MCES")
Up to 90% of course fees for Singapore Citizens aged 40 years and above

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs ("ETSS")
Up to 90% of course fees for employees of SMEs who are Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents

Workfare Training Support Scheme ("WTS")
Up to 95% of course fees for Singapore Citizens aged 35 years and above (13 years and above for persons with disabilities) earning a monthly income of not more than S$2,000.

Speaker/Trainer Bio

Dr. Tan Hwee Pink
Associate Professor of Information Systems (Practice)
Associate Director of TCS-SMU iCity Lab
Singapore Management University

Prior to joining SMU, Dr Tan Hwee Pink was the the Head of the A*STAR, he led an A*STAR research program, Sense and Sense-abilities, and leading a team of 30 full time research scientists, engineers and students towards realizing a unified architecture for large scale sensing and sense-making to realise smart cities and was the Principal investigator of collaborative research projects with industry on areas of underwater acoustic sensor networks, environmentally-powered wireless sensor networks and large-scale and heterogeneous wireless sensor systems.

He is currently Associate Professor of Information Systems (Practice) as well as Academic Director of the TCS-SMU iCity Lab at the Singapore Management University. Hwee Pink have Graduated 2 PhD students and supervised / co-supervised 6 PhD students, and 5 MSc students in research projects and many other students who are undergraduate/polytechnic and secondary school level on research attachments.

With 22 years’ experience under his belt in conducting research and development in various areas, Hwee Pink have published 2 book chapters, 20 journal papers and 64 conference papers.

Amelia Ching

Amelia Ching is a financial IT veteran with over 25 years’ experience. Previously the Head of Risk and Control for Citibank’s Treasury and Trade Solutions Group, her role included IT service management, application production, IT outsourcing management, global internet application Operational Readiness Management and the setup of Global and Regional Application command centre.

Amelia has been instrumental in the design and delivery of SMU Academy’s technology related programmes, facilitating and delivering both public and custom trainings and consultancy for the academy.
