SMU Academy is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Bank of Maldives (BML), the leading financial institution in the Republic of Maldives.
The MOU was signed by Mr. Mohamed Shareef, Chief Executive Officer of BML, and Mr. Jack Lim, Executive Director of SMU Academy. This partnership establishes a strategic collaboration to deliver SMU programmes, training, workshops, and other educational initiatives to BML staff and external participants through BML Academy, an institute registered with the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development in the Maldives.
Under this collaboration, SMU Academy and BML will work together across three key areas:
Leadership and Management Development
SMU Academy will design and deliver customised leadership and management programmes for participants across all levels of BML, including the Board of Directors, senior leadership, managers, and relationship managers, as well as selected external participants. Successful participants will receive an official SMU Certificate.
Strategic Collaborative Initiatives
Both institutions will jointly develop a range of learning and professional development initiatives, including Learning Journeys for senior management, specialised training for targeted staff groups, and broad-based Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes. CPD participants will have the opportunity to accumulate SMU Certificates towards qualifications such as Industry Graduate Diplomas and Industry Practice Master’s programmes. Additional initiatives may be introduced by mutual agreement.
Train-the-Trainer (TTT) Programme
SMU Academy will develop a structured, multi-phase Train-the-Trainer programme to equip selected BML staff with the competencies to become certified internal facilitators. The programme will include progressive training, supervised practice, and certification, enabling participants to deliver approved programmes internally (and externally where agreed), with periodic recertification by SMU.
This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to professional excellence and continuous learning in the Maldives. SMU Academy looks forward to a meaningful and impactful partnership with Bank of Maldives.
