Rethinking Food for Good

Rethinking Food for Good
Organisation

X‑Inc Pte Ltd

Established in 2007, X‑Inc Pte Ltd is the parent company of FoodXervices Inc., a leading food‑service distributor in Singapore serving more than 2,000 clients across hospitality, aviation, F&B, and culinary institutions.

With a strong commitment to building a vibrant and resilient food‑sector ecosystem, X‑Inc integrates sustainability into the heart of its operations, partnerships, and long‑term strategic ambitions.

Project Challenge

The central challenge facing X‑Inc was the need to strengthen and formalise its sustainability strategy in an increasingly demanding business and environmental landscape. As a key player in the food-service distribution sector, the company required a structured, data‑driven approach to sustainability that could be embedded across operations. Several key challenges emerged:

  • Fragmented Sustainability Data: Sustainability indicators—such as energy usage, waste streams, and recycling efforts—were tracked across multiple channels, limiting visibility and coherence.
  • Lack of Centralised Knowledge: Existing green initiatives, supplier contributions, and ESG activities were dispersed and not documented in a unified format, affecting communication and alignment.
  • Growing Expectations for ESG Reporting: As sustainability becomes integral to the food‑service sector, the organisation faced increasing demand for structured policies, transparent reporting, and measurable outcomes.
  • Need for Scalable Governance: X‑Inc required a roadmap that could guide long‑term ESG integration, support operational KPIs, and align with national and global net‑zero ambitions.
Project Outcomes

The following key outcomes were delivered by the project:

  • Development of a Sustainability Performance Dashboard: A consolidated dashboard was created to track energy usage, waste generation, and recycling rates, improving environmental monitoring and decision‑making.
  • Creation of a Centralised Sustainability Knowledge Base: A structured repository was built to catalogue sustainability efforts across X‑Inc and its partners, enabling clearer communication with employees, suppliers, and clients.
  • Enhanced Environmental Governance: New policy proposals and recommendations were produced to strengthen sustainability governance, informing updates to internal policies, including the company’s employee handbook.
  • Comprehensive ESG Strategy and Roadmap: A long‑term sustainability roadmap was delivered, now integrated into X‑Inc’s KPI system and aligned with Singapore and global Net Zero 2050 targets.
  • Catalyst for New Innovation: The project inspired X‑Inc to explore offering “sustainability as a service” to other SMEs in the food sector, expanding its potential industry impact.
Project Benefits

The project delivered significant and multifaceted benefits:

  • Strengthened ESG Governance: Clear frameworks, dashboards, and structured practices now anchor sustainability across the organisation.
  • Improved Internal and External Alignment: The centralised knowledge base and enhanced documentation support more consistent communication with staff, customers, and supply‑chain partners.
  • Operational Visibility: Consolidated environmental indicators provide better insight into resource usage, waste streams, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Future‑Ready Positioning: The ESG roadmap positions X‑Inc ahead of emerging sustainability requirements and establishes it as a benchmark within the food‑service sector.
  • Industry Innovation Potential: By exploring sustainability‑focused service offerings, X‑Inc can contribute to raising sustainability standards across the SME food ecosystem.
Feedback and Testimonial

The project has strengthened X‑Inc’s sustainability foundations by bringing fresh perspective, structured analysis, and the courage to challenge existing assumptions. The team’s thoughtful insights and practical approach have enhanced the organisation’s ability to track key environmental indicators and communicate its sustainability efforts more coherently across employees, suppliers, and partners.

As X‑Inc continues to advance its sustainability commitments, the work completed through this initiative will remain a key pillar supporting long‑term ESG progress. The professionalism and innovation demonstrated throughout the project have contributed meaningfully to X‑Inc’s journey toward purposeful, data‑driven, and future‑ready sustainability practices.
