PREREQUISITES
The below areas are present in the course and while not essential to an understanding of quantum computing, having some knowledge and experience will be useful to get the most out of the course:
- Some experience of programming, e.g., Python
- Some knowledge of computers, e.g., bits and logic gates
- Some mathematical knowledge, e.g., matrices
Overview
“Quantum advantage” has already been shown to do things impossible and the underlying technology continues to advance every week. While everyone talks about the speed of quantum computers, the power of this technology is not just in how fast calculations can be performed but also in how accurate. This course equips participants with the skills and knowledge to understand quantum computing, how it differs from classical computing and what the main applications are, now and in the future. Furthermore, participants can experience programming real quantum computers and explore the quantum world.

- Explain the fundamentals of quantum computers
- Recognise the advantages and disadvantages of quantum computers
- Understand the programming of real quantum computers
- Recommend quantum computers for the correct problem types
- Predict advancements in quantum computing
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

SkillsFuture Credit
Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
