What Is SkillsFuture Credit?


SkillsFuture Credit is a government initiative by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) that provides Singapore Citizens with credits to offset the cost of approved skills-based courses. It aims to encourage individuals to take ownership of their skills development and lifelong learning.
 

Who is it for?


All Singaporeans aged 25 and above to support their lifelong pursuit of skills mastery.

How do I get started?


After you have selected a course, you will have to first register for it with the training provider. After you have successfully enrolled for a course, you can submit a claim for SkillsFuture Credit by following the steps below.
 

What can I use it for?


SkillsFuture Credit can be used on top of existing government course subsidies to pay for a wide range of approved skills-related courses. 

Types of SkillsFuture Credit Support Available 


SkillsFuture Credit is issued in different forms, depending on age and eligibility. The table below outlines the main types of SkillsFuture Credit support currently available or previously issued.

Complete your SkillsFuture Profile


If this is your first time using SkillsFuture Credit, ensure that your SkillsFuture profile is completed on the MySkillsFuture portal before submitting a claim.

Check your available credit balance in your SkillsFuture Credit wallet.

SkillsFuture Credit claims can only be submitted for amounts that are less than or equal to your available account balance, or equal to the full course fee, whichever is lower.

60 Days

Claim Submission Timeline


Application to utilise SkillsFuture Credits can be submitted when making payment for the course via the SMU Academy Portal.

Claims can only be made within 60 days and no later than 5 days before the course start date.

Step-by-Step Guide: How to Claim Your SkillsFuture Credits (Individual)?

 

If your registration falls within 60 days of the course start date

Step 1: Submit your course registration
Once you have filled in your course registration application, click "Submit Registration".

Step 2: Close pop-up
After submitting your registration, close the pop-up.

Step 3: Click ‘Accept’ to proceed
On the SMU Academy Portal, read and accept the terms & conditions to proceed.

Step 4: Click ‘Apply SkillsFuture Credit’
Click the Apply SFC button to start the claim process.

Step 5: Login with Singpass
You’ll be taken to the MySkillsFuture portal. Log in using your Singpass credentials to access your SkillsFuture Credit account.

Step 6: Review course details
Confirm your course title and start date on the SkillsFuture Credit claim screen. Then enter the number of credits you wish to claim.

Step 7: Accept terms and submit
After you click "Submit", you will be redirected to make payment for the balance amount, if any.
 

If your registration falls outside 60 days of the course start date

 

*You will receive an email notifying you of payment 60 days before the course commences.


Step 1: Click on the email link for online payment
If you are making payment through the online payment link, please skip to step 4.
Alternatively, payment can be made via the Student Portal.

Step 2: Go to outstanding payments
Find your outstanding under ‘Payment’ > ‘Outstanding Payment’.

Step 3: Select Your outstanding payment
Select your outstanding and click ‘Make Payment’.

Step 4: Click ‘Accept’ to proceed
On the SMU Academy Portal, read and accept the terms & conditions to proceed.

Step 5: Click ‘Apply SkillsFuture Credit’
Click the Apply SFC button to start the claim process.

Step 6: Login with Singpass
You’ll be taken to the MySkillsFuture portal. Log in using your Singpass credentials to access your SkillsFuture Credit account.

Step 7: Review course details
Confirm your course title and start date on the SkillsFuture Credit claim screen. Then enter the number of credits you wish to claim.

Step 8: Accept terms and submit
After you click "Submit", you will be redirected to make payment for the balance amount, if any.

FAQs About SkillsFuture Credit


How much SkillsFuture Credit do I have in 2026?

The amount of SkillsFuture Credit available depends on your eligibility and whether you have received additional top-ups. All Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above receive a $500 opening credit, which does not expire.

To view your exact balance, log in to the MySkillsFuture portal using Singpass.

Can I use SkillsFuture Credit for SMU Academy courses?

Yes, selected SMU Academy programmes are eligible for SkillsFuture Credit.

Learners who enrol in eligible programmes may use SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fees. Claims must be submitted via the MySkillsFuture portal within the stipulated claim window and in accordance with SkillsFuture Singapore’s requirements.

What can I use SkillsFuture Credit for?

SkillsFuture Credit can be used to pay for or offset fees for approved training courses, including:

  • Courses approved by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG)
  • Eligible short courses, modular certificates, and professional programmes
When does my SkillsFuture Credit expire?

The expiry of SkillsFuture Credit depends on the type of credit issued:

  • Opening SkillsFuture Credit: Does not expire
  • One-off SkillsFuture Credit Top-Up: Expired on 31 December 2025
  • SkillsFuture Credit (Mid-Career): Does not expire

Any applicable expiry dates are reflected in your MySkillsFuture account. Expired credits cannot be reinstated.

What are SkillsFuture Credit eligible courses?

SkillsFuture Credit eligible courses must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Approved by SkillsFuture Singapore
  • Offered by an accredited training provider
  • Listed on the MySkillsFuture course directory

Course eligibility may vary by intake. Learners are advised to confirm eligibility on the MySkillsFuture portal before registering for a course.
