A key feature of modern mobile apps is the ability to keep your data in sync across multiple devices, by working with web-based back-end services through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). In this module, learn the basic concepts by working with APIs and setting up mobile apps that work with a given web back-end, using the Flask framework in the Python programming language. Participants will be able to create and customise a web back-end for their mobile apps at the end of this course.

Through guided hands-on web app projects, transform static websites into functional tools to solve real-world front-end development challenges. 

This practical course teaches participants to design, implement, and manage relational databases for dynamic web applications. Through hands-on projects building real-world applications (like movie review platforms and sports databases), participants will learn about core SQL operations and integrate databases with back-end systems (e.g., Express) and front-end frameworks (e.g., React) and build scalable, robust data layers essential for modern web application infrastructure, including implementing full CRUD functionality. 

This practical course is designed to equip learners with the essential skills needed to design, develop, and integrate comprehensive web solutions through hands-on implementation of RESTful services and responsive interfaces.

In this course, participants will learn to harness the latest AI development tools — such as v0, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Windsurf – to code and facilitate rapid app development. They will learn to craft effective prompts, integrate AI-generated code with industry-standard frameworks, and seamlessly deploy live web apps.
