Overview

Talent is an organization’s biggest asset and developing a consistent and comprehensive approach to maximizing the potential of this asset has never been more critical. Through this module, you will create a thoroughly defined road map to build your strategy design team, generate buy-in, and hold critical discussions about the future of talent in your organization. The course modules into the four components of a well-rounded HR strategy: Accelerate Performance, Champion Culture, Maximize Talent, and Optimize Intelligence. You will be guided through current talent trends and foster discussion on how trend responsiveness will support your organization, and leave with a list of the most pressing topics for your organization to address along with techniques to have these discussions and reach business critical decisions.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the module, each participant would be able to:

  • Understand the foundational elements to creating and executing a strategy
  • Use an organisational framework by the Society of HR Management (SHRM) to shape your people strategy
  • Explore current and future business trends that inform future talent-focused strategies
  • Develop a comprehensive road map to develop a people strategy
  • Leverage on the people strategy for employer branding

Topic/Structure

1. People Strategy Basics

An effective strategy seeks to find the right people, with the right skills, paired with the right technology, at the right time and place. In this segment, the alignment between organisation and people strategy will be discussed.

2. Organisational Framework Overview

The SHRM Organisational Framework with its 4 key drivers of Accelerating Performance, Champion Culture, Maximise Talent and Optimise Intelligence will be introduced and how these drivers would provide the levers for organisation to design a people strategy for the future.

3. Deep Dive – Accelerating Performance, Champion Culture, Maximise Talent and Optimise Intelligence

Each driver of the SHRM Organisational Framework would be further discussed, with case studies of organisations which have successfully leverage on the key drivers to bring about effective people strategies, and guiding questions to help participants analyse their own organisations.

4. Building Your Roadmap

This is a hands-on exercise to provide an opportunity for participants to integrate all the key drivers and put together an action plan to begin the journey of creating a people strategy for the future.  

Assessment

Participants have to meet a minimum attendance rate of 75% and have to complete all assessment(s) required by the course. Only upon meeting the minimum attendance and passing the assessment will participants be issued a Certificate of Completion.

Participants who fail the assessment will be given a chance for re-assessment at a fee of SGD100.00 (excluding prevailing GST). Each participant is allowed 1 re-assessment. The re-assessment has to be taken within 7 calendar days from the end of the course date. It will be held on a weekday specified by SMU Academy and conducted during office hours. Please note that re-assessment fees are not supported by SSG Funding.

Participants who meet the minimum attendance rate but do not achieve a pass for the assessment will be issued a Certificate of Participation.

Participants are required to bring their laptop to access the course materials, class exercises and individual assessment(s).

In order to be awarded with Advanced Certificate in Future Workforce Architecture, participants are required to complete all 7 modules within 2 years.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)

  • Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
  • Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
  • Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
