Who Should Attend
Heads of Department, Data Protection Officers, Compliance Managers or professionals with data protection responsibilities as well as those responsible for handling personal data, e.g., Finance, Human Resource, Sales and Marketing, IT, Customer Services.
Prerequisites:
As this is not a foundation course, participants are expected to have:
- good knowledge of data protection; and
- tertiary level qualifications; and/or
- at least 2 years of working experience
Overview
After the training, participants will be able to demonstrate an understanding of a principles-based framework and knowledge base in information privacy within the Asian context, including laws and practices specific to the above countries. They will also become proficient in supporting vital privacy-related processes such as compliance, cross-border data transfers and internal data protection.
On this course, participants will be prepared for the IAPP CIPP/A examination. Participants who wish to pursue the certification may sit for the examination offered separately by IAPP after this training course. Examination voucher can be purchased at a special rate from our training partner Straits Interactive who is also one of IAPP’s official training partners. More details about the examination voucher will be shared on the last day of the course.

Learning Objectives
At the end of the 3-day course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the fundamentals of privacy principles
- Know Singapore privacy laws and practices (focusing on PDPA)
- Understand Hong Kong privacy laws and practices
- Understand India privacy laws and practices
- Appreciate common themes among principle frameworks
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Participation issued by Singapore Management University.

- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
