PREREQUISITES
There are no prerequisites for this programme. Prior knowledge of any of the topics is not required.
Overview
This programme examines the critical role of governance, safety, and ethics in managing AI agents and enables participants to assess risks, apply guardrails, and build governance playbooks that balance innovation with responsibility. By the end of the day, participants will understand how to implement practical oversight mechanisms and anticipate emerging global standards that are shaping the safe deployment of agentic AI.

Learning Objectives
At the end of the 1-day module, participants will be able to:
- Define key governance and ethical principles for agentic artificial intelligence (AI), including fairness, transparency, accountability, and explainability
- Identify and analyse potential ethical risks of autonomous decision-making and misuse of agentic AI
- Conduct structured risk, bias, and compliance assessments for proposed agent deployments
- Design and implement safety guardrails such as kill-switches, rate limits, confidence thresholds, and escalation protocols
- Establish monitoring, logging, and auditing processes aligned with regulatory requirements (e.g., Personal Data Protection Act in Singapore)
- Develop a governance playbook with oversight mechanisms, approval workflows, and best practices for responsible deployment
- Discuss emerging global trends, case studies, and evolving standards shaping ethical and safe adoption of agentic AI
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by SMU Academy.

SkillsFuture Credit
Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
