Overview
In times of a crisis, it is critical that all stakeholders of an organisation, both internal and external, can quickly and effectively communicate with one another, share information that allows the organisation to quickly rectify the situation, protect customers, employees and assets, and ensure business continuity.
This module seeks to equip participants with the language, structure and framework for communicating in a crisis with both internal and external parties. This includes communication strategy for notifying stakeholders within the organisation such as employees, and those outside the organisation such as partners and shareholders. The module will also guide participants on handling media relations, cultivating relationships and managing press communication. A crucial factor in crisis communication is not only about what to say, but the timing of such announcements, when updates need to be made, and the tone of voice to be adopted.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the 2-day module, participants will be able to:
- Have a working framework for crisis communication including the language and tonality required
- Navigate and be discerning on how to handle media relations and cultivate relationships
- Recommend and strategically plan a course of action for internal and external stakeholders
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.
