Overview
Module 4 provides an in-depth understanding of big data management and visualization tools essential for analyzing large datasets in the digital economy. Participants will learn about various techniques and technologies used to store, process, and manage big data efficiently, covering topics such as distributed file systems, NoSQL databases, Hadoop ecosystem, Spark framework, and cloud-based storage solutions. Participants will also explore different visualization tools that enable them to present complex data sets in a clear and understandable manner such as Tableau, Power BI, D3.js, etc. Through practical exercises and case studies, participants will develop the skills necessary to extract valuable insights from big data through effective visualisation techniques.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the 2-day module, participants will be able to:
- Understand the principles and concepts of big data management, including data storage, retrieval, and processing techniques
- Gain proficiency in utilizing popular big data visualization tools to effectively communicate insights derived from large datasets
- Develop the ability to apply advanced statistical methods and machine learning algorithms for analysing big data sets within a business context
- Acquire skills in integrating various data sources and formats into a unified platform for efficient management and analysis
- Demonstrate the capability to design and implement scalable solutions for managing big data using cloud-based technologies and distributed computing frameworks
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
