Overview

As part of SMU's vision to develop the next generation of innovation leaders, we have launched an integrated innovation framework that trains participants to develop relevant skill sets to effectively implement and deploy innovation within their organisation.

These tools are designed with the aim to develop the capacity for innovation and implement effective innovation-led solutions, keeping you ahead of the competition amid disruptions triggered by digital transformations. Stay ahead and acquire new knowledge as well as future skills required to ride the waves of change for tomorrow.

Topic/Structure

To achieve the Advanced Certificate in Innovation, participants will need to complete the following modules offered by SMU Academy:

Business Model and Technology Innovation
The Financial Potential and Risks of New Business Ideas
Design Thinking - Innovation Management Tool
Design Thinking - Opportunity Recognition and Ideation Management
Implementing Effective Processes to Support Innovation
Effectively Pitch and Get Buy-In for Innovation

Assessment

An assessment will be conducted at the end of each module.

CERTIFICATION

Upon completion of all 6 modules within a maximum duration of 3 years, participants will be awarded a digital Advanced Certificate in Innovation.

SkillsFuture Credit

Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.

This is only applicable to self-sponsored participants. Application to utilise SkillsFuture Credits can be submitted when making payment for the course via the SMU Academy TMS Portal, and can only be made within 60 days of course start date.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)

  • Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
  • Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
  • Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
  • Trainees are eligible for ETSS funding only if their company's SME status is approved prior to the course commencement date. To verify your SME's status, please click here.

He co-founded Wonder Group, managing offshore software teams across Asia, raising over US$1.5 million in startup capital. Ivan serves as Adjunct Faculty at SMU, teaching accounting and finance. He holds a Bachelor of Business Management from SMU and a Bachelors in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. Ivan is also a Chartered Accountant and Certified Financial Analyst. In his free time, he enjoys adventurous travel and holds licenses for free fall parachuting and skydiving.

With assignments based in the USA, China, Germany, Korea, India and Singapore, culminating in 2 Asia-Pacific Regional Director positions, John thrives in global and culturally-diverse environments. He is an adjunct lecturer at various universities; a published writer on Management, Leadership, Strategy and Asian culture; and an active speaker at Business Excellence conferences, global corporations and professional institutions. John is the founder of Sustainable Organisational Excellence and the Southeast Asia Representative for the Lean Global Network, offering consulting, coaching, facilitation, and training services. John holds an MBA from Fordham University and a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Kettering University.

His experiences include designing new passenger experiences for the first French high-speed train TGV Duplex to powering corporate innovation with large organisations in Japan, and setting up the first national Design Thinking and Innovation Academy in Singapore. As a serial entrepreneur, Thierry likes to challenge himself by taking the path off the beaten track; the only way to quench his thirst for adventures and human narratives. Besides running Atelier Modus, he teaches design thinking as Adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore, and Adjunct Faculty at Singapore Management University. He is currently a member of the Advisory Committee at the School of Media, Arts and Design at Singapore Polytechnic.
