Who Should Attend

This certificate is designed for entry and supervisory level employees in supply chain management. It is also helpful for executives who are new to supply chains or a specific domain, people re-entering the job market and experienced employees looking to work with commercial opportunities.


PREREQUISITES

There are no prerequisites for this programme. Prior knowledge on any of the topics is not required.

Overview

Supply chains typically generate massive amounts of data. Supply chain analytics helps to make sense of all this data - uncovering patterns and generating insights.

In this module, participants will be provided with a basic understanding and tools to evaluate large amounts of data. They will learn how to use the data to identify new opportunities and create an effective plan based on the insights it provides. Companies will also be able to use the analytical data to understand the many changes and challenges that occur within their own business and the market in which they operate.

  • Understand why analytics is critical to today’s supply chains and its financial/ economic impact
  • Understand Business Intelligence (BI) fundamentals
  • Learn how to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of supply chain analytics using a BI approach
  • Use BI to improve decision making process in the Supply Chain business

Assessment

As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.

Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

  • Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
  • Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
  • Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman

Dr. Nilotpal Chakravarti, received his PhD in Combinatorics & Optimization from the University of Waterloo in 1987. He has published in Mathematics of Operations Research, Mathematical Programming, SIAM J on Optimization and other prestigious journals.

Dr. Chakravarti has held permanent faculty positions at Northern Illinois University and the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. He is currently a Visiting Faculty Member at the Indian Institute of Management, Udaipur and has previously taught at the National University of Singapore and the SP Jain Institute of Management. He has conducted training programs for executives in multiple locations including Bangkok, Delhi, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore.

Dr. Chakravarti led multiple Revenue Management projects at Singapore Airlines from 1998 to 2001. Since 2006 he has been the Director of Smart Consulting Solutions a bespoke data science solutions company.  He has applied analytics techniques to diverse areas including Supply Chain Management (SCM), BFSI, Media, Aviation, and Human Resource Management. His SCM projects include vessel routing for a large Indonesian shipping company, building software for end-to-end Planning of Singapore Army’s ammunition supply chain, infrastructure planning for offshore drilling, container repositioning for an Indonesian shipping company and planning oil rig movement during an oil drilling campaign in Australia.
