Overview
In Singapore, the movement towards sustainability has begun accelerating on several fronts: from smart logistics and master planning to the increase in demand for smart and green buildings. This complements the Government’s efforts to establish Singapore as a sustainable city.
Organisations are also embracing and integrating sustainability in their operations to be in line with the Singapore Exchange’s ‘comply or explain’ ruling, or to mitigate the impact of the upcoming carbon tax. This resonates with one of the seven key strategies recommended by the Committee of the Future Economy.
Globally, businesses are recognising the opportunities and benefits of adopting corporate sustainability. The emerging green sector is poised for growth in years to come and is increasingly being regarded as a sector with job opportunities in areas such as renewable energy. To take on jobs in this sector, it is important that its working people be equipped with the relevant skills.
Equip yourself with the right skills to take advantage of career opportunities in the green sector through the Advanced Certificate in Sustainability and Sustainable Business – a joint programme organised by UN Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS) and SMU Academy.
The Advanced Certificate in Sustainability and Sustainable Businesses Programme is a 12-day programme held over four months.
UN Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS) is the Singapore chapter of the United Nations Global Compact.
As the national lead agency promoting corporate sustainability, GCNS provides an ecosystem for companies to align strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and take actions to achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through various platforms for multi-stakeholder engagement and collective action, GCNS advances the stewardship of sustainable business practices and Singapore’s national agenda of becoming a regional sustainable business hub. In addition, GCNS nurtures the next generation of responsible business leaders through its youth initiatives. GCNS is a stakeholder of the Global Reporting Initiative and supports the Singapore chapter of the World Bank Group's Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition (CPLC).
