Overview

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping how organisations manage and derive value from data, with significant implications for accounting and finance professionals. Data is increasingly viewed as a strategic asset, requiring proper valuation, strong governance, and high-quality management to support AI-driven insights and decision-making.

The course provides a business-focused foundation in how data is managed, governed, and leveraged within organisations. Participants will explore the key components of effective data management, including data quality, lifecycle governance, and control frameworks, and how these directly impact business performance.

The course also examines how AI is applied within finance functions, highlighting the relationship between well-managed data and reliable AI outcomes. By understanding how data supports analytics, reporting, and decision-making, participants will be better equipped to evaluate and contribute to AI initiatives in their organisations. At the end of the course, participants will gain the ability to assess data as a strategic asset, understand its role in enabling AI, and apply sound data management principles to support more informed, data-driven financial decisions.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the 2-day programme, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an appreciation for the strategic role of data management in business decision-making, and how high-quality data underpins reliable Artificial Intelligence (AI) outcomes in finance
  • Describe key regulatory demands and industry frameworks for data governance, including Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) obligations and international data management standards
  • Explain the need for robust data quality controls across the entire data lifecycle, and identify technology approaches that support these controls
  • Evaluate how finance professionals' roles are evolving to encompass data management, AI risk oversight, and data sharing governance
  • Describe how data innovation, including data monetisation and AI-powered analytics, is being applied in accounting and finance functions

Assessment

As part of the requirement for Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA), there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion.
