Overview
This course addresses this challenge by equipping professionals with practical techniques to transform unstructured data into structured, audit-ready information. Participants will learn how to apply Large Language Models (LLMs) to process invoices, claims, and contracts, moving beyond basic extraction to end-to-end, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled finance workflows.
Over three intensive days, participants will evaluate automation opportunities and develop the practical skills to implement document intelligence responsibly. Emphasis is placed on improving data quality, strengthening control visibility, and accelerating processing speed in real-world finance environments.
As a specialised applied module within the broader Industry Graduate Diploma in AI in Accounting pathway, this course prepares participants to redesign document-heavy workflows using AI, reducing manual effort while unlocking efficiency, accuracy, and business value through smarter document processing.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the 3-day programme, participants will be able to:
- Analyse document-heavy accounting and finance workflows to identify high-value opportunities for Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled extraction and intelligent document processing
- Differentiate between Optical Character Recognition (OCR), intelligent document processing, and Large Language Model (LLM)-assisted extraction approaches, and select the right approach based on document type, workflow requirements and control needs
- Evaluate the suitability of document intelligence tools and workflow designs for specific finance use cases using operational, data quality and governance criteria
- Build end-to-end document extraction workflows that incorporate classification, data capture, validation, exception handling and downstream handoff
- Design a basic validation and review logic, including confidence thresholds, exception routes and human-in-the-loop checkpoints for finance-grade use
- Assess key risks in AI-assisted document extraction, including inaccuracies, incomplete capture, audit trail gaps, privacy concerns and vendor dependency
- Understand controls-aware implementation approaches that support accuracy, accountability and reconciliation in enterprise finance settings
Assessment
As part of the requirement for Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA), there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion.
