Overview

This course leverages design thinking as a foundational framework to equip participants with essential skills and strategies for driving innovation and business growth. Through a combination of interactive workshops, group activities, and case studies, attendees will learn how to apply design thinking principles to craft compelling narratives, develop tailored business strategies, and foster innovation, complemented by Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.

Learning Objectives

  • Equip executives with practical knowledge in design thinking and its application to problem-solving and innovation
  • Strengthen capabilities in defining problem statements and advocating for customer needs through systematic research and empathy-driven approaches
  • Develop skills in effective market sizing using existing TAM (Total Addressable Market), SAM (Service Available Market), and SOM (Serviceable Obtainable Market) frameworks to identify growth opportunities
  • Provide a foundational understanding of business strategy development tailored to the security industry
  • Foster innovative leadership and strategic thinking to drive organisational growth and adaptability
  • Integrate AI tools and methodologies to enhance innovation processes and decision-making capabilities

Assessment

As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.

Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

  • Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
  • Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
  • Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman

Ivan is the Head of Payments, APAC for a Fortune 100 media company, overseeing a team managing over US$250 million in monthly transactions. He co-founded Wonder Group, managing offshore software teams across Asia, raising over US$1.5 million in startup capital. Ivan serves as Adjunct Faculty at SMU, teaching accounting and finance. He holds a Bachelor of Business Management from SMU and a Bachelors in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. Ivan is also a Chartered Accountant and Certified Financial Analyst. In his free time, he enjoys adventurous travel and holds licenses for free fall parachuting and skydiving.

Over three decades, Thierry has honed his design expertise across the globe from Singapore to Canada. His experiences include designing new passenger experiences for the first French high-speed train TGV Duplex to powering corporate innovation with large organisations in Japan, and setting up the first national Design Thinking and Innovation Academy in Singapore. As a serial entrepreneur, Thierry likes to challenge himself by taking the path off the beaten track; the only way to quench his thirst for adventures and human narratives. Besides running Atelier Modus, he teaches design thinking as Adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore, and Adjunct Faculty at Singapore Management University. He is currently a member of the Advisory Committee at the School of Media, Arts and Design at Singapore Polytechnic.

He has collaborated with a wide range of organisations—including MNCs, large local enterprises, and Singapore government ministries—across sectors such as education, aviation, manufacturing, healthcare, engineering, F&B and the arts. His work has focused on designing and delivering impactful learning and organisational development solutions.
