Overview

In a world inundated with data and information, knowing how to communicate key information in an effective manner is critical. This is especially so in fast-paced, high growth sectors like the digital/ eCommerce industry. Frequently perceived as a task “only extroverts are good at”, effective presentations are not about putting on the attributes of an “extrovert” and engaging in “showmanship”; it is a process that entails planning, preparation, mindful delivery, and dedicated practice.

This programme aims to equip participants with an understanding and practice of the process of presentations; providing them with principles that can be adapted to different presentation situations; and empowering them to be more effective presenters.

At the end of the 2-day course, participants will:

  • Understand fundamentals of effective presentations, and how they can be applied to their own work contexts
  • Learn to consider the role of audience in their presentations
  • Understand factors that affect their confidence and anxiety levels, and learn ways to take control of their fears

  • Engage in their own learning through presentation practices

CERTIFICATION

As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course.

Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion.

SkillsFuture Credit

Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)

  • Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
  • Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
  • Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
  • Trainees are eligible for ETSS funding only if their company's SME status is approved prior to the course commencement date. To verify your SME's status, please click here.

Singapore Management University
Dr Tan, PhD in Communications, boasts over 20 years of expertise spanning government, corporate, and non-profit realms. Originating as a Corporate Trainer in banking, she later held pivotal roles in government, including as the inaugural civilian Press Secretary at the Ministry of Defence. As Director of the National Marketing Office at the Ministry of Communication & Information (MCI), she established its first Singapore Brand Office. Post-government tenure, she aided Lazada Group in their employer branding debut and advised fintech startup Endowus on public relations. Currently, she serves as Adjunct Faculty at Singapore Management University's Lee Kong Chian School of Business, instructing MBA Leadership Communication and Strategies for Persuasive Presentations at SMU Academy, while also conducting corporate training with SMU Executive Development.
