- Candidates attempting Part A of the Singapore Bar Examination
- Any other person with an interest in the fundamentals of Singapore land law
PREREQUISITES
- Participants who have obtained or are currently studying for a law degree from a Commonwealth jurisdiction;
- Participants who have obtained or are studying for a paralegal certification in a Commonwealth jurisdiction.
Overview
This course will not only cover the legal rules pertaining to today’s real estate practice but will also discuss selected legal issues in relation to the Housing and Development Act and Land Titles Strata Act. The course is particularly useful for participants seeking to understand the ins and outs of the regulatory framework surrounding land ownership and tenancy in Singapore, with special emphasis placed on the sale of land, co-ownership, leases and licenses, mortgages, strata sales, and housing and development board flats.

Learning Objectives
At the end of the 8-week course, participants will be able to:
Give an overview of Singapore Land Law
- Explain the law of the Torrens registration system under the Land Titles Act 1993
- Explain the law governing contracts for the sale of land
- Understand the concept of co-ownership
- Explain the law governing leases and licences
- Explain the law governing mortgages
- Explain the law governing caveats
- Explain the law on Strata Titles
- Explain the law on HDB flats (public housing)
- Analyse a given fact pattern and apply the appropriate law
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment will be multiple-choice questions covering issues taught during the course.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Participation issued by Singapore Management University.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
