This module is conducted online and on-campus.
11 sessions

Weeknights (7pm - 10pm)
Singapore Management University and Online
Who Should Attend
This course is designed for individuals primarily seeking employment within conventional organisations and enterprises that do not have a specific emphasis on sustainability but are considering the recruitment of sustainability-related roles. It is not intended for those individuals who are interested in joining businesses with a well-established specialisation in the field of sustainability.
Overview
Implementing sustainability commitments requires competent technical experts who can undertake or monitor activities. Through the capstone project, participants will gain the skills and experience to undertake and deliver specific sustainability-focused action plans. SMUA’s slate of sustainability courses are very important, but alone they are not sufficient. Even more crucial to building competence is practical experience overseen and guided by a project mentor who already has the skills and experience and is willing to pass them on.
To help distil the learning, a project mentor is assigned to encourage the personal and professional development of the project mentees through the sharing of knowledge, expertise and experience. Under the Career Advisory segment, there will be career workshops as well as the option of 1:1 coaching with a Career Coach to assist participants with ready skills to transit to a new career.
Note: This module is not available on a standalone basis.
Learning Objectives
- Providing participants with orientation on career paths related to climate, energy, and sustainability policy
- Acquire hands-on learning experience through projects on various sustainability issues solving real-world problems with practical applications in business, government and NGOs
- Gain exposure to a wide range of multinational companies, Singapore-listed companies, small and medium enterprises, government agencies and NGOs teaching them about the company and the expectations of management
- Access to extensive networking opportunities and interactions in the sustainability sector.
- Career development by assisting participants in meeting their career goals by honing new capabilities
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of every module. The mode of assessment varies depending on the modules and it will be either an online quiz or group presentation.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment for each of the 10 modules in order to be eligible for programme funding and to be awarded the digital Advanced Certificate in Driving Sustainability for the Future: The Future of Work through a Sustainable Lens issued by Singapore Management University.
