Overview

In recent years, there has been a significant shift towards prioritising sustainability on the agendas of organisations, with sustainable investment steadily becoming a norm.

This course aims to introduce participants to sustainable investment concepts, principles and applications to enhance participants’ ability to integrate sustainable factors into investments. Participants will familiarise themselves with sustainable investment trends and different sustainable investment concepts. By examining practical local and international use cases, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to effectively integrate sustainable practices to investment management.

  • Understand sustainable investment trends and principles
  • Apply approaches to including sustainable factors in investment process
  • Identify and differentiate the application of different sustainable investment concepts
  • Describe leading global and regional sustainable investment initiatives, coalitions, and pledges
  • Assess how sustainable investing practices can be integrated into their organisation through the incorporation of practical use-case studies

Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by SMU Academy.

IBF - STS Funding

Standards Training Scheme

The IBF Standards Training Scheme (IBF-STS) provides funding for training and assessment programmes accredited under the Skills Framework for Financial Services. It is applicable for both Company-Sponsored and Non Company-Sponsored individuals.

For training programmes commencing from 1 Jan 2023:

  • Individuals must be physically based in Singapore.
  • Singapore Citizens and PRs will be eligible for 50% funding of direct training cost.
  • Singapore Citizens aged 40 years old and above will be eligible for 70% co-funding of direct training cost.
  • Funding amount is capped at S$3,000 per participant per course.
  • Course fees subsidies will not apply to self-sponsored individuals who are not employed by financial institutions and Singapore FinTech Association certified FinTech firms for critical core skills (generic /soft skills) and future-enabled skill only courses.
  • Trainees are only eligible for a one-time grant of course fee subsidies for the course per calendar year, subject to their successful completion of the course.

Helene has been honored as Top 100 Women in Finance by FinTech Times and a Top 50 Global Fintech Leader. GoImpact platform, which she founded to promote Sustainable Finance, has partnered with organizations like Temasek Foundation and UNDP within its first year. A prominent speaker, Helene holds a First Class Honours degree in English and Economics from the University of Hong Kong.

Clarence is a seasoned banking executive with over 30 years of international experience across Asia Pacific, Greater China, and North America. He has held senior leadership roles at BNP Paribas, Citibank, and The Chase Manhattan Bank, specializing in corporate lending, structured finance, capital markets, loan syndications, and private banking.

As CEO of BNP Paribas (China) Ltd. from 2010 to 2014, he led the bank’s expansion in China and strengthened its onshore capabilities. He later drove wealth management growth across Asia and established BNP Paribas’ Digital Innovation Lab.

In 2018, Clarence co-founded GoImpact Capital Partners, an ESG-focused education platform serving banking and corporate professionals. He holds an MBA and BBA in Banking and Finance from the University of North Texas, USA.

About IBF Certification 
This course addresses the following Technical Skills and Competencies (TSCs) and proficiency level: 

  • Sustainable Investment Management Proficiency Level 3

Participants are encouraged to access the IBF MySkills Portfolio to track their training progress and skills acquisition against the Skills Framework for Financial Services. You can apply for IBF Certification after fulfilling the required number of Technical Skills and Competencies (TSCs) for the selected job role.
