PREREQUISITES

  • A Bachelor's Degree; or
  • A Diploma with at least 3 years of working experience
  • Basic knowledge in Finance and/or relevant working experience in the finance sector
  • Comfortable dealing and working with multiple mathematical formula

Overview

Whether it’s a foreign exchange (FX) or a commodity, a keen trader should be equipped with a basic understanding of how a confluence of fundamental forces and the prevailing business, regulatory, economic and social landscapes all interact to determine the behaviour of market price movements and, in so doing, acquire the ability to form nuanced views on the markets they seek to trade.

Acquire practical knowledge in these fields from pricing principles to global market structure, and find the best fit to add in the portfolio. Participants in this module will also be able to apply trade strategies and learn to spot trade opportunities to gain from the market when trading forex and commodities.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the global market structure, prevailing regulatory landscape and players in FX & Commodity markets
  • Understand the basic pricing principles and market conventions of retail traded financial instruments in FX and Commodity markets
  • Understand the characteristic fundamental forces which impact individual FX & Commodity markets and identify sources to mine fundamental data, indicators, news and event announcements to make basic value judgements
  • Apply common FX and Commodity trade strategies effectively to monetise trade opportunities or express market views

  • Commodities Trading and Trading Strategies

Assessment

An assessment will be conducted at the end of each module.
 

CERTIFICATION

Upon meeting the attendance and assessment criteria, participants will be awarded a digital certificate for participating in each module. Please refer to our course policies to view the attendance and assessment criteria. 

Upon completion of all modules required for this programme within a maximum duration of 3 years, participants will be awarded a digital certificate.

  • Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
  • Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
  • Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman

Skilled in Management, Structured Finance/ Project Finance, Global Market Activities, Models and Valuation, Risk Management, Business Development, and Business Process Improvement, Fred possesses vast knowledge of banking standards and regulations, deep understanding of Equity/ Equity Derivatives and Fixed Income, Commodities and Currency (FICC) market activities and high-level management skills in relation to trading, financial engineering, sales, operations and risk management. Frederic holds a Masters in Finance and Investment from the London Metropolitan University, an MSc in Civil Engineering from Ecole Centrale Paris and a BSc in Theoretical Physics.
