Overview

In this dynamic, hands-on program, you will explore the critical aspects of workforce planning within your organization and learn to support the implementation of a talent management strategy. You will discover how to develop targeted, data-driven human capital solutions with the goal of helping your business leaders make well-informed decisions that mitigate business risks. In collaboration with peer learners, you will work through a case study to practice your new skills and prepare yourself to implement workforce planning strategies back at your organisation.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the module, each participant would be able to:

  • Analyze the organisational environment, including future business challenges and their likely impact on the organisation’s workforce
  • Integrate workforce planning into the strategic plan of the organisation
  • Describe the key steps to developing a strategic workforce plan, including analysis, forecasting, strategy development, and cost modeling
  • Create or refine a framework for your organisation’s workforce planning strategy

Topic/Structure

1. Understanding The Need For Workforce Planning

The strategic relationship between effective HR and the core business functions will be explored. Participants will learn to use organisation resources to support the business operations and functions.

2. Creating Business Case For Workforce Planning

Getting a strong business case together would enable HR to get the required resources to strategically plan for the needs of the workforce. Participants will learn how to build a business case using the SHRM model.

3. Supply and Demand Analysis

With future work/ workplace considerations in mind and using available information and data, learn how to evaluate and make sound decisions in workforce planning.

4. Implementation and Evaluation

How do you turn the plan into actions? The use of different key metrics and steps, from communication to measuring the impact, will be discussed. 

Assessment

Participants have to meet a minimum attendance rate of 75% and have to complete all assessment(s) required by the course. Only upon meeting the minimum attendance and passing the assessment will participants be issued a Certificate of Completion.

Participants who fail the assessment will be given a chance for re-assessment at a fee of SGD100.00 (excluding prevailing GST). Each participant is allowed 1 re-assessment. The re-assessment has to be taken within 7 calendar days from the end of the course date. It will be held on a weekday specified by SMU Academy and conducted during office hours. Please note that re-assessment fees are not supported by SSG Funding.

Participants who meet the minimum attendance rate but do not achieve a pass for the assessment will be issued a Certificate of Participation.

Participants are required to bring their laptop to access the course materials, class exercises and individual assessment(s).

In order to be awarded with Advanced Certificate in Future Workforce Architecture, participants are required to complete all 7 modules within 2 years.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)

  • Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
  • Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
  • Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
