Overview
As businesses increasingly rely on data to drive decision-making, it's important that they stay up to date with the latest technologies and ensure they have the necessary safeguards in place to protect their customers' personal data. With the rapid pace of technological advancements, it's essential that businesses remain vigilant in their efforts to protect data and comply with relevant regulations.
This module provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of the PDPA, which enables businesses to apply the legislation for compliance purposes.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this two-day course, participants will be able to achieve the following learning objectives:
- Develop a holistic understanding of the data-protection regime in Singapore and in other major jurisdictions, e.g., the GDPR in the EU
- Be familiar with the data-protection obligations the PDPA imposes on companies, including on senior management and employees
- Devise a comprehensive to-do checklist for compliance with PDPA obligations
- Understand the various key documents and internal processes required for PDPA compliance
- Learn about common data-protection pitfalls, breaches committed by companies in the past, and how to avoid these red flags
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
