Overview
While academic and theoretical mastery is not required, he/ she should, at least, be able to identify legal issues/ requirements, and be aware of the solutions and resources needed to address and comply with them. Professional-education courses imparting practical knowledge of the law do not appear to be common in Singapore, hence this programme is specifically designed to provide business owners, managers, and executives with a working knowledge of laws and legal processes related to the entire spectrum of running and managing a business.
Topic/Structure
To achieve the Advanced Certificate in Practical Business Law, participants will need to complete the following modules offered by SMU Academy:
Module 1: Understanding and Managing Contracts in the Digital Business Domain
Module 2: Starting and Managing a Company in the Digital Age - a Corporate Governance Perspective
Module 3: Legal Aspects of Employment in the Era of Digital Transformation
Module 4: Bits, Bytes and Privacy Rights - Navigating Data Protection in the Digital Business Landscape
Module 5: Of Pixels and Policies - Legal Issues and Strategies in Online Marketing, Advertising, and Sales
Module 6: Protecting and Managing Intangible Assets in an Increasingly Digitised World
Module 7: Bytes and Brawls - Navigating Commercial Dispute in the Digital Landscape
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of every module. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment for each of the 7 modules within 3 years in order to be awarded the digital Advanced Certificate in Practical Business Law issued by Singapore Management University.
