Overview

F&B businesses make or break based on the margins. These numbers behind the dollars are indicators to a potential growth or struggling decline. Hence, it is crucial for owners to pay attention to the management and financial accounting in planning the next few steps of their business strategies.

In this module, participants will learn the basics of accounting and keep a budget for their F&B business. Thereafter, they will apply their knowledge through hands-on practices to help get them started in thinking for their business.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain a high-level understanding of Financial Accounting in the areas of Profit & Loss Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement
  • Gain an overview of Management Account and how to control cost
  • Build first Operating Budget
  • Understand business ratios
  • Build a sustainable business using ratios
  • Understand the legal considerations in running a sustainable F&B Business

  • Exercise on operation budget
  • Analysing F&B business ratios
  • Exercise on const controlling
  • Legal considerations in running F&B business (licenses, contracts, agreements)

Assessment

An assessment will be conducted at the end of the course.

 

CERTIFICATION

Upon meeting the attendance and assessment criteria, participants will be awarded a digital certificate for participating in each module. Please refer to our course policies to view the attendance and assessment criteria. 

Upon completion of all modules required for this programme within a maximum duration of 3 years, participants will be awarded a digital certificate.

  • Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million

  • Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman

Ivan is the Head of Payments, APAC for a Fortune 100 media company, overseeing a team managing over US$250 million in monthly transactions. He co-founded Wonder Group, managing offshore software teams across Asia, raising over US$1.5 million in startup capital. Ivan serves as Adjunct Faculty at SMU, teaching accounting and finance. He holds a Bachelor of Business Management from SMU and a Bachelors in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. Ivan is also a Chartered Accountant and Certified Financial Analyst. In his free time, he enjoys adventurous travel and holds licenses for free fall parachuting and skydiving.

Rodney, Co-Founder and Director of Regall and UserTip, represented Singapore in the 2018 Global Legal Hackathon finals. As Regall’s director, Rodney has managed various LegalTech development projects and consulting projects with solution providers, law firms, and government affiliated agencies. As UserTip’s director, Rodney oversees the development and implementation of technology designed to smoothen out the process of digital adoption. Rodney was called to the Singapore Bar, and understands the requirements for certain areas of laws and how the legal operations of the firm needs to cater for certain situations. He is currently a adjunct faculty at SMU Yong Pung How School of Law, teaching Legal Design and Design Thinking. Rodney is also a member the global Legal Design Alliance.
