Overview
Business Model Innovation (BMI) enables small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to deliver enhanced value to customers, optimise operations, and seize new opportunities, ultimately driving long-term success. Compared to product and process innovation, BMI can deliver exponential rates of growth in today’s complex business environment. In the context of Industry 4.0, BMI can help SMEs to align their business models with emerging technologies and overcome digital challenges.
This module focuses on reinventing and adapting business models to stay competitive and responsive in the evolving market landscape, with the goal of guiding SME leaders through the process of rethinking and reshaping their business models to foster innovation, drive growth, and create value. Participants will explore various innovative business models, understand how to align them with their business vision and learn strategies to implement these models effectively.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the 2-day module, participants will be able to:
- Identify opportunities for innovation and market adaptation
- Understand the principles and importance of business model innovation for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
- Explore various innovative business models and their applicability to different industries
- Develop strategies to implement and integrate new business models within existing structures
- Incorporate sustainability practices into business models for SMEs

Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.
