Overview

Leadership skills are fundamental in helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) scale up, expand internationally, and innovate. Effective leadership can help SMEs to develop a clear vision, establish a strong company culture, and build a high-performing team. SME leaders should be equipped with new skills to ensure their businesses remain relevant and competitive in the rapidly changing market.

Participants explore how SMEs can anticipate and adapt to agile methodology, future trends advancements, and evolving consumer behaviours. It emphasises the importance of foresight in business planning, innovation in product and service offerings, and the agility to pivot strategies as needed. This module is designed to help SMEs stay ahead of the curve, minimise risks, and seize opportunities in a dynamic business environment.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the 2-day module, participants will be able to:

Understand the importance of leadership skills in helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to scale up, expand internationally, and innovate
Develop effective leadership skills to help SMEs develop a clear vision, establish a strong company culture, and build a high-performing team
Identify emerging trends and potential disruptors in your industry and develop strategies to innovate and adapt products and services
Create business models and practices that are resilient to market changes
Anticipate and adapt to agile methodology, future trends advancements, and evolving consumer behaviors
Emphasise the importance of foresight in business planning, innovation in product and service offerings, and the agility to pivot strategies as needed

Assessment

As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.

Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
