Overview
Module 4 providesparticipants with a comprehensive understanding of the legal and ethical frameworks that govern the rapidly growing industry of eSports. It covers key topics such as intellectual property rights, contract law, player rights, gambling regulations, doping policies, and data protection laws specific to eSports.
Participants will explore the unique legal challenges faced by stakeholders in the eSports ecosystem including players, teams, event organisers, sponsors, and game developers. They will also examine ethical issues related to fair play, diversity and inclusion, online harassment prevention strategies, and responsible gaming practices. Upon completion of this module, participants will be equipped with essential knowledge to address legal compliance requirements and uphold ethical principles in their roles within the eSports industry.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the 2-day module, participants will be able to:
- Understand the legal framework surrounding eSports, including contracts, intellectual property rights, and liability issues
- Analyze ethical considerations in eSports, such as fair play, sportsmanship, and the impact of performance-enhancing substances
- Evaluate the role of governing bodies and regulations in shaping the legal and ethical landscape of eSports
- Apply knowledge of legal and ethical principles to real-world scenarios within the eSports industry
- Develop strategies for promoting integrity and responsible behavior within the eSports community while adhering to legal requirements
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
