Overview
Module 4 focuses on integrating environmentally friendly practices into building design and construction. This module covers topics such as sustainable materials, energy-efficient systems, waste reduction strategies, and green building certification standards. Participants will learn how to apply sustainable design principles to reduce environmental impact, improve energy efficiency, and create healthier indoor environments. The module also explores the latest trends in green construction technologies and innovative approaches to sustainable building practices. Upon completion of this module, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to the advancement of green building initiatives in their professional careers.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the 2-day module, participants will be able to:
- Understand the principles and practices of sustainable design and construction in green building, including the integration of renewable energy sources and efficient use of resources
- Analyse the environmental impact of different construction materials and techniques, and evaluate their suitability for sustainable building projects
- Demonstrate proficiency in utilising advanced technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) to optimize green building design processes and enhance energy efficiency
- Evaluate the economic feasibility of sustainable design and construction strategies, considering life cycle costs, return on investment, and potential financial incentives or certifications
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices related to sustainable design and construction in green building projects
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
