Overview
This course covers the evolution and significance of AWS, emphasising its robust global infrastructure, including data centres and availability zones, highlighting the reliability and scalability of AWS services.
Explore key AWS services like computing capabilities, storage solutions, databases, and networking to manage resources effectively. This course will cover on security, focusing on identity and access management, encryption, and compliance, and introduces monitoring and analytics tools for performance optimisation. Beyond technical concepts, participants will gain insights into the AWS pricing model and support options, empowering them to optimise costs. Practical migration strategies are discussed, providing the knowledge to transition to the AWS cloud while driving innovation. The course also prepares participants for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam, covering all essential basics for certification.
By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the foundational knowledge and skills to navigate the AWS cloud and lays the groundwork for further specialisation.
Learning Objectives
- Understand various deployment models for cloud services, the Amazon Web Services (AWS) global infrastructure including Availability Zones, CloudFront, and different provisioning approaches
- Dive into the benefits and use cases of EC2, EC2 Auto Scaling, Elastic Load Balancing, and other compute options within AWS
- Explore fundamental networking concepts, distinguish between public and private resources, and discuss hybrid deployments and Virtual Private Networks
- Understand storage options such as Amazon EBS, Amazon S3, and Amazon EFS, along with database services like Amazon RDS and DynamoDB, detailing their benefits and application scenarios
- Focus on AWS security layers, the shared responsibility model, AWS Identity and Access Management, and compliance standards
- Learn about monitoring tools like Amazon CloudWatch and AWS CloudTrail, and managing costs with tools such as AWS Budgets, Cost Explorer, and the AWS Pricing Calculator. Additionally, understand AWS support structures and pricing models
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
